By Kathe Tanner Cambrians will likely face the threat of fines and dramatically high bills for wasting any of the town's limited supply of drinking water this summer. Penalties may be imposed for irrigating landscaping between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., washing a vehicle with an unrestricted flow through a a hose, watering plants on a vacant lot next door and other infractions. With a dry summer expected, residents who waste any of the town's limited supply of water face penalties. The water rules have been on the books since 2001, but not enforced. Now, facing a dry summer after another below-normal year for rain, the Cambria Community Services District will discuss enforcement of the water rules. Also at its meeting on June 24, the district may re institute punitive rates on high volume water users. |
